Carl Craig is a Detroit-born electronic music producer, DJ, and founder of the record label Planet E Communications, widely regarded as a key pioneer in the second wave of Detroit techno since the late 1980s. Drawing on soul, jazz, industrial, and new wave influences, he has recorded prolifically under aliases including 69, Innerzone Orchestra, Psyche, and Paperclip People. Notable releases include the landmark debut Landcruising (1995), Recomposed with Moritz Von Oswald on Deutsche Grammophon (2008), the Chicago-Detroit collaborative album Unity with Green Velvet (2015), and the orchestral project Versus (2017). He was nominated for a Grammy in 2008 and is the subject of the 2024 Tribeca-premiered documentary Desire, the Carl Craig Story.
